| Article number: kb-12 | Q. Can I transfer a domain name that will soon expire or one that has already expired to CircleRDomains?
A. When a domain name has expired, these domains go on hold/lock at the current registrar since their expiration date has passed.
It's not a good idea to wait until close to the domain expiration date to try to transfer a domain to a new registrar.
The transfer process can sometimes take several days, and if your domain expires before the transfer is complete, the transfer will fail.
It's good to give have at least a month left before your domain needs to be renewed before attempting a transfer.
